Love these metaphors, especially when they allude to nature

A comment on a post by Corporate Rebels

Think like a farmer: sow, nurture, harvest

Good things take time, just like crops in the field. Don’t rush your team and don’t stress over instant results. Instead, water your business with innovation, give it the sunlight of collaboration, and watch it flourish. The harvest will be worth the wait. Patience + Persistence = Progress 🌻 What's your take on this?…

Love these metaphors especially when they allude to nature, like the one below from Corporate Rebels. They may reveal the same truth as empirical studies, but they are so much easier to communicate and make stick.

🎍 The typical bamboo growth is another good one to illustrate this delayed but then exponential growth pattern after an inflection point, often seen in start-ups (or personal growth).

🌱 When bamboo is first planted, it spends a significant amount of time—often years—developing a robust root system underground. During this time, there is little to no visible growth above the soil, which can make it seem like the plant is not growing at all (and obviously in the metaphorical context of start-ups or personal growth it can be super frustrating).

📈 Once the root system is fully established, the bamboo can grow incredibly quickly. Some species can grow a meter in just a day and then up to 30 meters in total. This sudden, dramatic growth occurs because the groundwork has already been laid during the initial phase.

💡 Here are the learnings:
✅ Growth is not linear
✅ Reality goes beyond what we see
✅ Life unfolds in its own processes and timings
✅ Don't obsess with current reality, things change
✅ Growing high requires deep roots first
✅ Never give up!

Admittedly the last one is tricky. Sometimes, it’s exactly what has to be done.

How can I find out?

As a rule of thumb (not always true), if your feeling (not to be confused with intuition) wants you to quit then don't.

If it tells you not to let go, then do.
