Dunning-Kruger vs. Impostor syndrome
A comment on a post by Corporate Rebels

There’s no one way to do self-management right.
After visiting hundreds of progressive companies, we've learned that there's no one-size-fits-all. The world's most rebellious organizations fall into 3 camps: 1️⃣ The accidental rebels: The "screw the system" types who stumbled into self-management without a playbook 2️⃣ The inspired innovators: Fired up by a book…
Read the original on LinkedInSharp observation here from Corporate Rebels. However, still better to start with massive "Dunning Kruger" and getting humble along the way (and therefore more knowledgeable), than "starting" with "Impostor syndrome" (the mirror image of Dunning Kruger) and therefore never actually starting😉
Never starting anything is one of the worst things for outer success and/or inner happiness there is, just equaled by the opposite: Never closing anything!
They are two sides of the same coin: Procrastination.
Driven by similar psychological mechanisms like fear of failure, perfectionism, and lack of intrinsic motivation they lead to avoidance.
Here are some practical tips to overcome both:
✅ Break tasks into smaller steps: Make tasks manageable to reduce overwhelm. This reduces avoidance caused by fear of complexity.
✅ Set deadlines: Having concrete deadlines creates a sense of urgency, which helps avoid the temptation to delay starting or finishing.
✅ Focus on "good enough": Encourage completion by aiming for “good enough” instead of perfect.
✅ Self-compassion: Emphasizing progress over perfection can ease the fear of failure and judgment.
Have a "perfect" weekend! But don't forget to actually START (or end) it 😉
